Løgstrup and medio-passivity

Last week I gave a paper at the conference organised by Beatrice Han-Pile and Dan Watts, as part of their ‘Ethics of Powerlessness‘ project. The conference was on ‘Virtue Theory and the Medio-Passive Agent’, and I spoke of how we might think of the role of medio-passivity in Løgstrup’s ethics, as a way to possibly resolve the tension between our self-centredness and the need to be open to the other person, where this might involve a kind of surrendering of the self in a medio-passive way. I think this is an interesting approach, though may not quite do justice to all of Løgstrup position. I have pasted the slides from my talk on the ‘draft papers‘ page – comments welcome.
